Open Access Policy refers to a set of principles and guidelines aimed at providing unrestricted access to scholarly research and literature. It promotes the free availability and unrestricted use of research outputs, enabling researchers, students, and the general public to access, read, download, and distribute scholarly articles without financial or legal barriers. In this response, I will provide you with an overview of the history and latest resolutions related to Open Access Policy.

Federated Learning- Hope and Scope
by Lhamu Sherpa and Nandan Banerji

People are suffering from” data obesity” as a result of the expansion and quick development of various Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies and machine learning fields. The management of the current techniques is becoming more challenging due to the data created in the Smart-Health and Fintech service sectors. To provide stable and reliable methods for processing the data, several Machine Learning (ML) techniques were applied. Due to privacy-related issues with the aforementioned two providers, ML cannot fully use the data, whi...ch becomes difficult since it might not give the results that were expected. When the misuse and exploitation of personal data were gaining attention on a global scale and traditional machine learning (CML) was facing difficulties, Google introduced the concept of Federated Learning (FL). In order to enable the cooperative training of machine learning models among several organizations under privacy requirements, federated learning has been a popular research area. The expectation and potential of federated learning in terms of smart-health and fintech services are the main topics of this research.

Risk of Nutritional Deficiencies and Changes in Dietary Patterns after Bariatric Surgery
by Xiaofeng WuCailin Pan, Ningna Han and Yuebin Tan

Background: Nutrient deficiency and dietary restriction are common after bariatric surgery, regardless of weight loss. We aimed to evaluate the postoperative change in dietary patterns. Methods: 113 patients who underwent bariatric surgery from 2018 to 2021 were followed up at baseline and three months after surgery. Anthropometric and biochemical data were collected retrospectively, and the diet was analyzed by a food frequency questionnaire (FFQ). Results: Postoperative weight, body mass index (BMI), and % body fat decreased signifi...cantly (p < 0.001). Prealbumin (PA) and retinol-binding protein (RBP) levels decreased significantly at 3 months post-surgery  (p < 0.001); however, vitamin D (VD) , zinc, and albumin (ALB) levels increased (p < 0.05). Hemoglobin (HGB) in the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB) group was lower than that in the sleeve gastrectomy with jejunal bypass (SGJB) and the sleeve gastrectomy (SG) group (p < 0.05). The intake of cereals, tubers, legumes, meat, poultry, and aquatic products decreased (p < 0.001), whereas the intake of vegetables (except for soybeans), fruit, eggs, milk and dairy products, and water increased (p < 0.05). The RYGB group had a higher intake of cereals, tubers, and legumes than that in the other groups (p < 0.05), although there was no association between the reduction of intake in these food groups and weight loss. Conclusion: Bariatric surgery has a beneficial impact on weight loss and dietary patterns. Preoperative nutritional assessment and continuous follow-up are critical with bariatric surgery to prevent weight regain and malnutrition.

AI-Driven Smart Auditory Health Systems: Bridging Audiology and Public Health in Low- and Middle-Income Countries
by MD Nahid Hassan Nishan, Anika Ferdous and Farhana Jahan

Hearing loss is a critical global health issue that affects over 1.5 billion people worldwide, with a disproportionate burden in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). These regions face significant challenges, including limited access to audiological services, a shortage of healthcare professionals, and a lack of affordable hearing solutions. These barriers lead to delayed diagnoses, inadequate management, and a significant negative impact on individuals' quality of life, education, and employment opportunities. The advent of Artificial Int...elligence (AI) and advanced technologies offers innovative pathways to address these longstanding challenges. This review introduces the AI-driven smart Auditory Health Systems (SAHS) concept. This holistic approach integrates AI, wearable devices, Internet of Things (IoT) technology, and big data analytics to enhance the prevention, diagnosis, and management of auditory disorders. SAHS systems can provide real-time monitoring, early detection of hearing loss, and personalized care solutions tailored to individual and population needs. These systems offer community-level interventions, including noise pollution monitoring and data-driven public health strategies. Focusing on the LMIC context, this review explores the technological framework, applications, ethical considerations, and logistical challenges of implementing SAHS. By leveraging these advanced technologies, SAHS has the potential to bridge gaps in healthcare access, improve health outcomes, and transform auditory healthcare delivery in resource-constrained settings. This review underscores the importance of collaborative efforts in research, policy development, and capacity building to ensure equitable adoption of SAHS, thereby addressing hearing health disparities globally.
